Practical & professional

With an eye towards higher quantities and lower costs, stapled booklets booklets are a streamlined and simple way to reach your audience. “Self-cover” just means that you have the option to use the same paper stock for the cover and the inside pages, creating a lightweight and portable option that you can use in almost any setting or situation. The crisp, high-quality printing shows you’re a pro, and up to 76 customizable pages let you get important info to customers however you want to. From advertising leaflets to user guides for products, self-cover booklets help you get the job done.

Do-it-all flexibility

Above all else, stapled self-cover booklets give you the flexibility you need. They’re easy to move, store and pack. They’re also a little less formal (and pricey) than some of our other folders and holders, which makes them approachable to customers and budget-friendly for you. And while people most often use them as product catalogs or event programs, they’re also a great option for instruction manuals, presentation guides and storefront takeaways. Some people even include them in direct mail campaigns or use them as newsletters.

Design tools & help

To make sure your booklet comes out exactly how you’d like (and to cut down on any confusion or lost time), you should use our design template. You can find it under ‘Specs & Templates,’ right on this page. Start by downloading your template file in a format that matches your design software. Then, you’re ready to get started! As you put together your design, keep our guidelines handy to make sure things like page order and bleed are correct.

Stapling

The booklets turned out well with the exception that one of the booklets was stapled incorrectly. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had ordered lots, but I only ordered 5 so losing 1 of them was a little problematic. I tried to take out the staples to put the booklet in the correct order and re-staple but the booklet ripped. So it didn't work.
Response from Vistaprint Customer Care Team:
Thank you for sharing your review with us. We acknowledge your feedback and are glad to hear that overall your booklets turned out well, though we are truly sorry that one arrived stapled incorrectly—especially with a smaller order of 5 where every copy counts. Could you please reply directly to this email and share a few photos of the affected booklet? Once we receive your images, our team will review the issue right away and work to make this right for you. We look forward to hearing from you.

Frequently asked questions

“Self-cover” just refers to the fact that with these stapled booklets, you can choose to have the same material on the cover and inside pages. With some of our other booklet options, you can choose a different material for the cover and interior.

Start by downloading a customised template under ‘Specs and Templates.’ This’ll go a long way towards getting your layout the way you want it. You can also refer to our PDF guide for more detailed info and instructions.

The short answer is a lot! But in all seriousness, stapled self-cover are a very flexible product. You can use them as handouts or marketing materials. They can be part of presentations or promo kits. They work well as instruction or user guides. And many of our customers use them as event programs, newsletters or even menus.

We offer a range of inside paper thicknesses, from lighter self-cover stocks to thicker, sturdier options. The exact thickness and weight depend on the stock and finish you choose. Lighter weights offer more flexibility, while heavier stocks provide a more substantial feel.
Budget: 60lb uncoated; 70lb matte or glossy
Standard: 80lb matte, glossy, uncoated, or recycled
Standard plus: 100lb matte, glossy, or uncoated

We offer two types of cover paper options: self-cover stocks, which use the same paper as the inside pages, and cover-exclusive stocks, which are thicker and more rigid. As the weight increases, the cover becomes sturdier and more substantial.

Self-cover options (same stock as inside pages):
Budget: 60lb uncoated; 70lb matte or glossy
Standard: 80lb matte, glossy, uncoated, or recycled
Standard plus: 100lb matte, glossy, or uncoated

Cover-exclusive options (thicker cover stock):
Premium: 80lb matte, glossy, or uncoated
Premium plus: 100lb matte, glossy, or uncoated
Deluxe: 120lb uncoated; 130lb matte or glossy

If you’re interested, you’ll see an option to upgrade to a thicker cover paper while designing your booklet, or you can select one from the start on our saddle-stitch booklets page.

Absolutely. You can print on the front and back of all your cover and inside pages.

We don’t offer sample booklets, but you can order as few as 1 booklet. This is a great way to see how your printed booklet looks before you order a larger amount.
